Profhilo Structura is an injectable from IBSA, the maker of Profhilo, containing 90 mg of hybrid high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid in 2 mL. Unlike regular Profhilo, which is placed in the skin, it is injected by cannula into the superficial fat compartments of the lateral face, and is directed at fat-compartment change rather than skin quality.

What Is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is a next-generation NAHYCO® formulation from IBSA — the same manufacturer as the original Profhilo. It contains 90 mg of hybrid high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid in 2 mL, compared with 64 mg in regular Profhilo, and is formulated for the superficial fat compartments of the face rather than the dermis.
While regular Profhilo is optimised for the face and spreads easily through mid-dermal tissue, Profhilo Structura is injected by cannula into the superficial fat compartments of the lateral face, in the cheek and preauricular area, and is directed at fat-compartment change rather than skin quality.
How Profhilo Structura Differs from Regular Profhilo
Viscosity: Structura has a higher hyaluronic acid concentration and different flow properties from regular Profhilo, formulated for placement in fat rather than spread through the skin.
Target areas: Regular Profhilo is placed in the skin of the face and can also be used on the neck. Profhilo Structura is placed in the superficial fat compartments of the lateral face, in the cheek and preauricular area.
Mechanism: Both contain NAHYCO® technology stimulating collagen and elastin production. Structura carries more of both the high- and low-molecular-weight fractions, 45 mg of each against 32 mg of each in regular Profhilo, and is directed at the fat compartment rather than the dermis.

Who Benefits Most from Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is considered for early hollowing of the lateral cheek and preauricular area, and for early jowl sagging linked to change in those fat compartments. It is not a substitute for filler where defined volume is needed, or for surgical lifting in later-stage cases, which are referred to a plastic surgery specialist. Crepey skin of the neck, décolletage or body is a skin-quality finding assessed for other treatments.
Profhilo Structura Protocol
Like regular Profhilo, Structura is typically administered as a short series of sessions, planned individually at consultation. Injection points are mapped to the specific area being treated — Structura is placed by cannula through its own entry points in front of the ear, at a different depth from the face BAP protocol. Dr Sin Yong assesses each patient's anatomy at consultation to determine whether regular Profhilo, Profhilo Structura, or a combination is most appropriate for their specific areas of concern.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Profhilo Structura | Hybrid hyaluronic acid placed in the superficial fat compartments of the lateral face, directed at fat-compartment change | Add defined volume like a filler, lift heavy descent or remove skin | Swelling or tenderness around the entry points that settle | Early hollowing of the lateral cheek or preauricular area, or early jowl sagging linked to change in those compartments |
| Profhilo (BAP technique) | Hybrid hyaluronic acid spread through the skin from set points, directed at hydration and skin quality | Add volume or lift deeper structures | Small bumps at the injection points that settle | Thin, crepey or dehydrated facial skin |
| Hyaluronic acid dermal filler | Adds volume that stays where it is placed, changing contour | Improve skin quality or lift heavy descent | Swelling or bruising that settle | Defined volume loss, such as a hollow temple or flat cheek |
| Collagen biostimulator (Sculptra or Ellansé) | A resorbable scaffold that prompts the body's own collagen over a longer arc | Give an immediate change, or be dissolved on demand | Swelling and tenderness that settle | Broader volume loss where gradual change suits |
| VF Lift – Vertical Facelift (Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency) | Bulk dermal heating planned along vertical vectors, directed at laxity | Remove skin or replace injected volume | Varies with settings; discussed before treatment | Laxity of the face and jawline |
| Surgical facelift, referred to a plastic surgery specialist | Repositions the SMAS and removes excess skin | Restore volume or skin quality on its own | Surgical recovery, guided by the operating team | Marked skin excess and advanced descent |

Frequently Asked Questions
Neither is universally "better" — they are designed for different areas. Regular Profhilo is placed in the skin and directed at skin quality. Profhilo Structura is placed in the fat layer of the lateral face and directed at fat-compartment change. Dr Sin Yong will recommend the appropriate product at consultation.
Yes. The face is what Profhilo Structura is designed for: it is placed in the superficial fat compartments of the lateral face, whereas regular Profhilo is placed in the skin. The two act at different depths and are chosen by what the examination finds.
The number of treatments and any maintenance are planned individually at consultation and reviewed according to how the tissue responds.
Profhilo (and Profhilo Structura) are bio-remodelling treatments that improve skin quality by stimulating collagen and elastin production. They do not add structural volume or reshape contours. Fillers add volume and can reshape features. The two are complementary but serve different purposes.
No. It is a hyaluronic acid injectable placed in the fat layer of the lateral face, made by a thermal process rather than chemically cross-linked like a conventional filler. It is directed at fat-compartment change rather than at adding defined volume or reshaping contours, so a hollow that needs structural volume is assessed for filler separately.
They can be planned together because they are placed in different layers and directed at different findings: Profhilo at the quality of the skin, Structura at the fat compartments of the lateral face. Whether both are needed, and in what order, is decided after examination.
